The Ultimate RC Kit from 1992

I started bringing back the memories of RC cars from the early 90's by bringing my RC10T out of storage. This truck is from 1992 and is all original! It had been at least 15 years since I had attempted to run it last, so it was quite the surprise when I charged the battery, plugged it in and found it to run like new!

These RC cars were sold as complete kits, with hundreds of parts that you had to individually assemble to create the vehicle. My dad and I worked on this car when I was around 11 years old, and it took us weeks to finish it. I remember how hard it was to wait to complete the kit, all I wanted to do was drive my new race grade RC truck! This RC truck was certainly a step above the other neighborhood kid's Toys'R'Us cars. I mean, this truck has a full independent suspension with shocks, springs and even a transmission. My friends and I used to set up 5 foot ramps for the truck to jump, and somehow it survived them all.

Anyway, fast-forward to today. With the recent hobby of RC planes taking off for me (some pun intended), I was reminded of my RC10T that was sitting on a shelf in the garage. I was curious to see what kind of condition it was in, and if I could get it running again. I quickly realized that the original NiCd battery was no good after so many years, so I stopped by the local hobby shop and picked up a new one for $10. I plugged it in and it came to life! I put the 8 AA batteries into my Futaba AM remote, it paired with the truck, and I was off! So for the past week I've been having a blast with it, tearing around the yard and neighborhood like a 11 year old again.
